Two of Ohio’s gaming locations are now open for business as sportsbooks. JACK Cleveland and JACK Thistledown Racino, both owned by Vici Properties and operated by JACK Entertainment, opened their retail locations.

However, in-person and online betting will not be available until January 1st, 2023 when legal sports betting launches in the state. This gives customers a chance to check out the new venues and place bets on their favorite teams over the next few months.

Ohio Retail Sportsbooks Debut

There will be three kinds of licenses which are available to enter the Ohio Sports betting market and one of these was the Type B license which will allow proprietors to operate a physical sports betting location. Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) granted 40 licenses and five of these retail sports books will be located in Cuyahoga County – one of the most populous counties in the state.

Two of these locations are under the supervision of JACK Entertainment. JACK Cleveland will be located near the Prospect Avenue entrance and will feature a 6,000-square-foot betting area with two 30-foot video walls capable of playing two big games or several sporting events simultaneously.

It will open the five betting windows, 20 self-service betting kiosks, a 12-seat video poker bar, and a table game pit on January 1, 2023.

Meanwhile, the sportsbook at JACK Thistledown Racino will cover 4,200 square feet and has one 30-foot video wall. It will also have several TV sets scattered around the venue and an 86-foot ticker that shows real-time scores, odds, and other game info.

In a statement, JACK Entertainment President Brian Eby said:

“We are excited to debut our state-of-the-art sportsbooks, which will offer unparalleled experiences to Northeast Ohio and quickly will become fan-favorite destinations to watch all the action.”

“We owe it to our fellow Ohio sports fans to deliver something great, and we are confident they will not be disappointed. Our sportsbooks at Jack Cleveland Casino and Jack Thistledown Racino will set the standard in Ohio,” he continued.

BetJACK Sports Betting App

Since the launch of its sports betting app in April, betJACK has been offering a unique “training camp” feature to Ohioans. The feature allows users to practice making sports bets, without actually placing any real money bets. This offers a great opportunity for people to learn about sports betting and to test out their strategies before they start placing real money bets.

In addition, the app is rewarding players by giving away tickets to upcoming sporting events like the Big 10 Championship, the Cavaliers vs Lakers, the Crosstown Shootout, and 12 Days of Parlay. It recently granted free tickets to Ohio State vs Michigan NCAAF game.
