It’s been a long road for Betr, but it seems the sports betting platform is finally on the cusp of launching in its first U.S. state – the Buckeye State. The Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) conditionally approved Betr for a license this week, with plans to join the Ohio Sports betting market launch on January 1, 2023.

Joey Levy and Jake Paul’s new company Betr is closer than ever to launching their app after receiving pre-approval in Ohio. The company has been working since August when they first announced their upcoming plans for the app. The app had great funding as investments totaled $50 million from numerous celebrities and other well-known individuals.

Betr Coming to Ohio

With the recent conditional approval, the first micro-betting app may be first launched in Ohio this New Year. There are some evaluations to be done before obtaining full approval but if those procedures are done on time, Betr CEO Joey Levy is confident that the app will be ready for a New Year’s launch.

“I’m confident that Betr will play a meaningful role in the state’s sports betting market, notably by providing consumers with both a truly differentiated product experience as well as a community around the new brand we are developing,” he said after the meeting in Columbus.

While the innovative app seems to have a lot of potentials to compete even in a loaded market. Ley said that they are doing it more conservatively.

“We’re going to be very gradual and methodical concerning how we go about market access,” Levy said.

He added that they will be “very deliberate” as they enter the first few markets. They are validating their product thesis first and then pushing a nationwide expansion when they are comfortable.

Betr’ Microbetting

Betr’s micro-betting is a new way to bet on live sporting events. Unlike traditional sports betting, which can be a long and drawn-out process, micro-betting allows you to bet on every moment of the game as it happens. This means that you can get your bets in as soon as you see something happening, without having to wait for the end of the game or event.

In addition, micro-betting is also much more flexible than other Ohio sports betting platforms. You can choose to bet on any number of outcomes, including who will score the next point, what the next play will be, or whether a particular team will win or lose.
